Great Grill/Griddle : Wolfgang Puck's indoor Reversible Grill - Griddle
I was skeptical that a 120 volt electric appliance with such a large cooking surface could generate enough heat to grill steak. A previous experience with such an appliance was disappointing, but this grill/griddle combo heats up very fast and delivers plenty of heat--I have never had to turn the thermostat to the HIGH setting for items such as steak, though I do usually cover steak and chicken with foil to reflect and hold in heat since there is obviously no cover. I have owned this grill for 9 months and have probably used it 100+ times for various tasks: pancakes (6-8 at a time), sausage, bacon, eggs, & tortillas (for warming) on the griddle side and steak, chicken, fish, kabobs, & squash on the grill side. Heating element is surprising compact and contained in the relatively lightweight cooking surface. I do hand-wash the cooking surface, which cleans easily due to the nonstick surface (which has yet to deteriorate or flake off, even at pretty high cooking temps). The grease pan underneath appears to be aluminum and goes easily into the dishwasher. Only downsides are that the thermostat temperature marks wear off with time, and the item is bulky--I store it in the oven. And lately I have been able to notice that the heating elements (2 of them, running lengthwise) deliver only slightly noticeable hotspots.
